Yasmin Waffá Tamimi
Biography
Yasmin Waffá Tamimi, obtained her bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) in 2021, where her undergraduate thesis focused on self-healing concrete using different healing agents. In 2025, she earned a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering: Construction and Infrastructure from the same institution, with a thesis addressing early- and late-age cracking and the durability of self-healing concrete with various agents.
In November 2025, she started her PhD research at MeMC, as part of a joint PhD between MeMC and Ghent University (UGent), under the supervision of Professors Dimitrios G. Aggelis and Nele De Belie. Her doctoral research focuses on the monitoring of damage and healing mechanisms in Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) using air-coupled ultrasound.
