Nima Azimi
Biography
Nima Azimi obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Minho, Portugal, in September 2025. His doctoral research focused on the long-term durability and mechanical performance of textile-reinforced mortar (TRM) composites for masonry strengthening, combining experimental investigations, advanced physicochemical characterization, and analytical modelling. His international research experience includes research stays at Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands) and Politecnico di Milano (Italy), followed by a postdoctoral research appointment at Riga Technical University (Latvia). Currently, as an FWO Junior Postdoctoral Research Fellow, his research focuses on the durability and long-term performance of advanced construction materials and structural systems, with particular emphasis on damage evolution, mechanical behavior, and predictive modelling. His broader research interests include sustainable cementitious materials, inorganic-matrix composites, continuum damage mechanics, and service-life assessment. Besides his research activities, he is actively involved in international scientific collaborations, scholarly publishing, COST Actions and RILEM technical committees.
