Kalliopi-Artemi Kalteremidou
Biography
Kalliopi-Artemi Kalteremidou is a Post-doc researcher at the Department of Mechanics of Materials and Constructions at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel since January 2020. She received her PhD from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (2020) with a thesis entitled ‘An integrated NDT approach for damage assessment of CFRP composites under complex static and fatigue loads’. She obtained her Master degree as a Mechanical Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens (2007-2012) and a second Master degree in the Science and Technology of Materials from the same university (2012-2014).
Her main area of interest includes characterization of polymer composite materials by the use of non-destructive inspection techniques. She focuses on the examination of the material properties under static and fatigue loading conditions, including complex multiaxial stresses. She has also been active in the characterization of 3D printed composite materials. Currently she is working on a project funded by Innoviris in collaboration with Solvay, a significant company located in Brussels, and the Université Libre de Bruxelles. The main focus of the project is on the experimental characterization and numerical development of tools for thermoplastic composites at the solid and molten states. Complex experiments are being performed with advanced monitoring tools for the characterization of the materials at the molten state. She has published scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and has attended numerous international conferences.
